POSITION SUMMARY:

Payment Processing Specialists exist to analyze and reconciling keying errors, misapplied entries and/or programming changes that impact general ledger accounts on existing accounts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Resolves the errors by navigating through bank websites, Viewpoint, and Global on a weekly basis.

  • Reports on the activity that occurs against each ledger on a quarterly basis.

  • Implements monthly reports that require research and corrections by journal entry, communicating with affected departments, existing customer contact and to present findings to upper management.

  • Tracks and resolves returned and uncashed paid out refunds.

  • Reports AML items to Compliance and provides an analysis on monthly bank charge statements.

  • Trains as back up and provides monthly report goals for the department.

  • Analyzes payment activity on customer loans and have firm understanding of actuarial and simple interest amortization in order to resolve errors or process entries.

  • Handles customer receivables, payoffs, reconcile daily accounting entries, and bank balances on a backup status only.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Efficient 10-key calculator skills, and working knowledge of AS400 a plus.

  • Ability to read and understand account entries and history a must.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills with ability to complete general accounting skills a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple duties with a sense of urgency.

  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Strong computer skills a must.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.

  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • 90% communication methods completed via email, reports or AS400 documentation. Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.

  • Ability to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.

  • Constantly works in an indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment.
