POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Staff Accountant exists for all VMF general ledger entries and detailed account analysis. Individual will be involved with process improvements, various reconciliations, allocations, and accruals .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with accounting analysis related to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process including financials, related financial analysis and reporting schedules.

  • Conducts portfolio reporting, product analysis, and account reconciliation.

  • Prepares and presents monthly P&L, revenue, and expense reporting for business units throughout Vanderbilt.

  • Cross trains and analyzes information for accurate reporting.

  • Develops queries, manipulating data to necessary format, improving processes, as well as taking on special projects to meet the needs of senior management.

  • Maintain various accounting projects while continuing regular duties.

  • Analyzes new business and departments to appropriately and accurately present profitability.

  • Creates ad hoc reports on request of financial data for senior management.

  • Serves as a backup for Treasury and Accounts Payable functions as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year degree in accounting.

  • 4-6 years’ experience in accounting or related field.

  • Must have great communication skills.

  • Great attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Motivated and self-starter.

  • Willing to learn, hard-working, determined and assertive.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.

  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • 90% communication methods completed over the phone. Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.

  • Ability to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.

  • Constantly works in an indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment.
