POSITION SUMMARY:

Legal Affairs Representatives exist to gather information regarding delinquent accounts and making sound decisions on possible options for solutions for existing customers. S/he is responsible for working a daily sequence of accounts with the greatest effort to reduce delinquency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Diligent at thoroughly examining accounts and providing sound decisions on information obtained.

  • Reviews files and collection history to determine best course of action.

  • Prepares documents and packages for attorneys.

  • Contacts attorneys, customers, retail, and collection staff.

  • Exhibits a working knowledge of legal procedures surrounding foreclosures and repossessions.

  • Maintains solid follow-up and customer service skills.

  • Contributes creative ideas on reducing legal issues.

  • Learns the processes and procedures of the department as well as outside venues accurately.

  • Capable of dealing with changes that can and will occur periodically.

  • Ability to learn state specific laws and regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required, College a plus.

  • Basic computer skills with ability to type at least 25 wpm.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently via phone, email and person to person.

  • Capable of gathering facts accurately, analyze causes, evaluate alternate solutions and arrive at sound conclusions on action to be taken.

  • Ability to manage multiple and/or conflicting responsibilities.

  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.

  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • 90% communication methods completed over the phone. Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.

  • Ability to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.

  • Constantly works in an indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment.
